In the 12th century, Richard the Lionheart of England rallied under Saint George the Dragon-Slayer’s banner, achieving resounding victories. His red cross—the “Dragon’s Blood Cross”—would become the emblem of Britain and its armed forces. Today, Bard’s Whisper resurrects that legend in a wristwatch designed to guard your most significant moments with courage and hope.
Project Highlights
Building on our 2020 “Madonna” crowdfunding success, which took eight months to deliver and earned widespread acclaim, we spent two more years developing “Saint George & the Dragon.” Enhancements include an open caseback, upgraded movement, and an even more refined miniature sculpture—crafted to world-class standards.
Case & Sculpture
Intricate Hand-Painted Engraving: The 316L stainless-steel case is fully engraved and filled by hand. Gothic architectural motifs—pointed-arch window tracery on the lugs and floral-and-Gothic-wood (Hibiscus syriacus) carvings on the sides—evoke medieval cathedrals.
Antique Brass Sculpture: A finely detailed brass miniature of Saint George and the Dragon, produced via proprietary micro-casting at a 0.3 mm resolution, then patinated to an antique gold finish.
Sapphire Lens Caseback
We custom-ordered the Sellita SW200 movement with a decorative “fish-scale” finish and electroplated patterns beneath a sapphire lens—offering a glimpse of the caliber while preserving a touch of mystery and elevated classical style.
Sculptural Development & Micro-Casting
3D Modelling & Prototype: In collaboration with Kaohsiung’s Thunder Art Studio, we spent six months perfecting the miniature’s composition—ensuring the dragon’s wings fully spread without obstructing the hands.
Production Workflow: Over another six months, our micro-casting process was refined to reproduce every contour and engraving under magnification.
Over 150 Craft Steps
Sculpture: Reverse engineering, 3D modelling, moldmaking, casting, polishing, micro-engraving, gilding, and electroplating.
Case: CNC machining, acid etching, laser engraving, brushing, polishing, multi-layer hand painting, and sapphire crystal cutting.
Strap: Hand-carved leather molds, precision cutting, stitching, edge finishing, and quick-release spring bars.
Dial & Hands
Dial: Inspired by mid-Byzantine Chhîm cathedral chandeliers, recolored in green and brown stained-glass tones by illustrator Chen Yuan-zhi to create a one-of-a-kind palette.
Hands: Custom “Sword & Lance” diamond-faceted hands, engineered to reflect even low ambient light for clear legibility.
Crown Detailing
A 7 mm rose-gold PVD crown featuring ultra-fine hand-painted grooves (0.01 mm wide)—a technique passed down from Taiwan’s early luxury watch artisans.
“Royal Consciousness” Palette
Case: Stainless steel with rose-gold PVD.
Sculpture: Antique-patina brass with black antiquing wash.
Dial: Deep olive-green and brown stained-glass motif—evoking classic royal regalia.
Each patinated brass figure exhibits subtle individual variation, reflecting hours of artisan oxidation, brushing, and polishing.
Movement & Servicing
Movement: Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic—trusted by Chopard, IWC, TAG Heuer, Breitling, and others.
Service: One-year global warranty (excluding shipping). Routine cleaning and lubrication recommended every 3–5 years.
Strap Innovation
A one-year development with Kaohsiung’s Chang’an 35 leather artisans yielded a spring-release “pressure-relief” strap, balancing the watch’s solid feel. Six color options are available; each backer receives a black strap with their pledge, and a stretch goal unlocks a complimentary hand-tooled Tan-tanned Gothic-pattern strap once 300 units are pledged.
Presentation & Extras
Box: Hand-lacquered wooden presentation case with leather travel sleeve.
Coin: A brass or silver Saint George & the Dragon medallion, cast in high relief from an 1887 Victorian prototype.
Operating Instructions
Winding: Unscrew the crown and turn clockwise (or wear—the rotor winds the movement).
Time-Setting: Pull the crown to the second position and turn clockwise.
Securing: Push in and screw down the crown to restore water resistance.
Care & Warranty
Avoid: Sports, swimming, bathing, steam, extreme heat, or heavy impacts.
Warranty: One year from purchase (up to 15 months from manufacture). Global coverage for defects; shipping costs borne by the customer.
Exclusions: Cosmetic damage, misuse, water damage, and unauthorized repairs.
