Inspired by the epic poem The Divine Comedy by Italian poet Dante,
the Gothic Genesis Watch series serves as a medium of artistic expression.

We believe that culture-based creations best embody the value and essence of art. As part of this artistic endeavor, our themes are meticulously designed based on in-depth research of medieval history, culture, and literature.

This project has involved over 20 Taiwanese artists and craftsmen, including scholars, artists, cultural experts, illustrators, sculptors, engineers, metalworkers, watchmakers, 3D modelers, animators, and blockchain specialists.

With a strong foundation in art and cultural heritage, we have devoted ourselves to creating this timepiece.

Demonstrating our commitment to elevating Taiwanese watch craftsmanship to the global stage, each model in this series features meticulously hand-painted components crafted by professional artists. In particular, the dial’s coloring process is executed by skilled artisans, making each piece highly limited in quantity.

To capture Dante’s vision of an alternate world in The Divine Comedy, the Bardic team collaborated with renowned Taiwanese artist Chao Chia-Mi, who meticulously hand-painted each timepiece. Using a distinctive composite layering technique, the artist precisely calculated the interaction between invisible luminescent pigments and the base coating. This results in a stunning dual-artistic expression, revealing different aesthetics in both day and night.

The watch employs an ultra-precise micro-casting technique, achieving meticulous polishing at the extreme limits.

"Whispers of the Bard" is the culmination of years of dedication, overcoming challenges such as the deformation rate issues in pure silver casting. Through the exclusive development of micro-casting technology, a seamlessly sculpted statue is perfectly embedded into the dial. Additionally, traditional watchmaking techniques are employed, with 1mm screws used to securely lock the movement, ensuring that no welding or other modern methods are used, thus maintaining the utmost in classical craftsmanship.

Inspired by Gothic architecture, the watch features iconic Gothic spire window motifs on the upper and lower lugs. The sides of the watch case are decorated with engravings symbolizing floral motifs and Gothic wood (scientific name: Hibiscus tiliaceus). The case back is equipped with a sapphire glass transparent back, complemented by special electroplated patterns in Gothic font, emulating the classic style of antique books to interpret the Gothic tradition.

This strength is rooted in the legacy of a Tainan-based old watch factory that once did Swiss OEM work. The entire watch, including the strap, weighs 180g. While it is slightly heavier than a typical mechanical watch, the specially designed handcrafted leather strap features a pressure-relief structure, evenly distributing the weight on both sides of the wrist, ensuring comfort even during long wear.

Dante’s Divine Comedy is a world-renowned epic poem, and the vast artistic creations inspired by it have deeply influenced modern art. To complete the design of this timepiece, the Whispers of the Bard team chose one of the most difficult subjects in casting—the plant theme. We sought the expertise of a leading 3D artist from Taiwan’s art community, Thunder God Art Studio in Kaohsiung, who took on the challenge of sculpting the rose statue that forms the core of the design.

The watch's windowed dial features a design crafted by Jia Longqi, a veteran Taiwanese sculptural artist with over 30 years of experience in the industry. His expertise was pivotal in achieving the intricate challenge of presenting a sense of depth within the 3mm dial, creating an impressive visual distance.

This piece, Dante's Divine Comedy, specially invites artisan artists to participate in hand-painting and the delicate craftsmanship involved in its creation. After the creation process is complete, each timepiece is signed on the back of the dial as a mark of authenticity.

Additionally, an online digital certificate hides partial 3D processing codes from the creation process, which can be used to verify the authenticity of the work in the future.

The Swiss Sellita movement brand was once one of the three major OEM factories for the renowned ETA. In recent years, it has gradually been adopted by many top-tier brands due to its exceptional quality.

For this project, the Gothic Genesis Watch – Dante's Divine Comedy Series features the Sellita SW200 automatic movement, known for its durability and reliability, making it a trusted choice for the Whispers of the Bard team in this special project.

In collaboration with Kaohsiung leather artisans Chang An 30, a year was spent developing a new type of pressure-relief strap.

Continuing the legacy of the St. George and the Dragon project, a custom-designed quick-release strap was developed, ensuring that its thickness, texture, and fit rival those of international luxury brands. All of this is handcrafted in Kaohsiung, reflecting the true artistry and precision of local craftsmanship.

The watch comes in a handcrafted wooden box with excellent protective qualities, accompanied by a leather carrying case. Hidden beneath is a highly valuable commemorative coin.

As the Whispers of the Bard supporters are spread across the globe, the packaging has been designed for optimal security and protection during shipping. Since the Dante's Divine Comedy Series is a limited edition, each watch includes a commemorative brass/pure silver Gothic coin as a special gift.

Introduction

1.To wind the movement, simply rotate the crown clockwise, and the winding shaft will pop out. (Alternatively, the movement will wind automatically with the natural motion of the wrist during wear.)
2.When the crown is pulled out slightly, it enters the time-setting mode. You can then rotate it clockwise to adjust the time.

3.Once the time is set, press the crown back into its original position and gently push it into the case to lock it securely.

(Be sure to lock the crown regularly to maintain its water resistance.)

Q. How should the watch be maintained in the future? Does the movement require servicing?
A. Our watch factory is based in Taiwan. Any movement issues within the first year will be covered for repair or replacement. The watch uses the reliable and stable Swiss SW200 automatic movement, which is durable and easy to maintain. It is recommended to service the watch by having it cleaned and lubricated by a professional watchmaker every 3-5 years.

This model is a fine European-style automatic mechanical watch.
