Within a very limited space, we created 4–5 layers of varying heights to simulate depth within just 2–3mm of thickness. Design Philosophy
Dante’s Divine Comedy, written over 700 years ago, has inspired generations of creators across the Renaissance and beyond. Cultural historian Jean-Pierre Barricelli (1912–1993) once noted in Dante Studies (1996):
“Artists across various mediums have passionately responded to The Divine Comedy—perhaps even more so than to the Bible.”
In the story, Dante wanders into a dark forest and meets the Roman poet Virgil, who guides him through Hell and Purgatory. Later, his muse Beatrice—who died young at 24—appears and leads him into Paradise, granting him redemption.
In 2022, Bard’s Whisper revisited medieval history, culture, and literature to craft a meaningful design. Over 20 Taiwanese artists and professionals participated in the project—including scholars, artists, illustrators, sculptors, engineers, metalworkers, watchmakers, 3D modelers, animators, and blockchain experts. With deep cultural and artistic preparation, we finally unveiled this piece.
The entire creative process took seven months. What you see now is only the final result—every sculpted line and form was the result of intense teamwork and discussion. We employed 3D modeling and miniature casting to create a highly dimensional timepiece. Thanks to veteran modeler Jia Long-Xi’s 4-layer micro-sculpting technique, we were able to make a dial just 3mm thick look incredibly solid and intricate—containing impressive hidden craftsmanship within.
