From the Designer, Zhang Sen-jie

“Song of Serpent Stone” draws inspiration from the myth of Medusa and the fusion of nature with statuary traditions. In my early concept sketches, I recalled exploring temple gardens and courtyard layouts in Kyoto, Kanazawa, and Hakodate. I wanted a harmonious landscape backdrop that also echoed the textures of carved stone.

True stone carving demands mastery of both pattern and color distribution. How does one allocate mineral veins and hues to maximize visual impact? Through ongoing dialogue, we conceived a design rooted in the aesthetic of serpentinite rock.

For this edition, master painter Green Leaf Studio—a graduate in special effects design and sculpture from New Zealand whose mentor worked on the “Lord of the Rings” effects team—applied advanced film-grade painting techniques to emulate the mottled green and black striations of serpentinite on our micro-cast brass components. To enhance depth, they incorporated the Japanese lacquer-mending art of Kintsugi, adding fine “golden seam” accents that mimic repaired fissures.

The result is an astonishingly realistic, dynamic texture that brings the raw power of nature to your wrist. We hope you find it as captivating as we do.
