Employed Japanese cloisonné technique (“shippō-yaki”) using transparent enamel glazes rather than the opaque enamels of traditional Chinese “Cloisonné” (Jingtai blue).
Wet-fill method: Multiple layers of enamel are applied, with repeated kiln firings to build depth and translucency on the dial’s surface.
Artist’s Note:
“As the founder of Ming Yue Enamel Workshop, I see enamel’s true brilliance when paired with metal. Transitioning from semiconductor engineer to enameling artisan felt like balancing two worlds. Through passion and study under masters in Taiwan and China, I mastered various enamel recipes—sourcing saturated pigments from the U.S. and fine, translucent hues from Japan—to achieve both vibrancy and delicate clarity. Layer by layer, I’ve crafted my signature palette. Enamel is a truly enchanting craft.”
Over ten specialists across modeling, casting, metal finishing, and micro-work united to realize this design.
Concept to completion spanned over two years, with numerous prototypes, setbacks, and refinements.
Special thanks to:
Mr. Wu Jing-hui, founder of the Chinese Enamel Art Association, for providing prototype enamel techniques.
National Treasure–level metalmaster Mr. Yang Xin-biao for his mentorship.
Philanthropy: Proceeds from any future sale will partly support Taiwanese enamel art initiatives in gratitude for this lineage of craftsmanship.
Sculptural Challenge: Carving 4–5 distinct depth layers into a 2–3 mm dial, using real-time perspective adjustments and Golden Ratio spacing to convey dramatic distance at a 0.3 mm minimum thickness.
Artistic Vision: Dante’s Divine Comedy journey dictates each motif.
Bronze-edition painter: Zhao Jia-Mi layered fluorescent accents—balanced through repeated testing—to bring out hidden details under UV light.
Each watch is hand-signed on the case back and accompanied by a blockchain-registered digital certificate, ensuring authenticity and collectible value.
Dante’s Divine Comedy—written 700 years ago—reshaped Renaissance art. Scholar Jean-Pierre Barricelli (1912–1993) noted in Dante Studies (1996) that no text, not even the Bible, inspired such fervent artistic responses. Dante’s pilgrimage through Hell and Purgatory, guided by Virgil, culminates in Beatrice’s redemptive presence. In 2022, Bard’s Whisper meticulously researched medieval history, culture, and manuscripts to inform this design. Over twenty Taiwanese experts—from illustrators to blockchain developers—contributed to seven months of development. By integrating 3D modeling with micro-casting, we’ve achieved a remarkable trompe-l’œil relief on only 3 mm of metal—an innovation by veteran modeler Jia Long-Xi.
Pure Silver Enamel Relief: Combines cloisonné artistry with high-relief sculpture.
Micro-Casting Precision: Movement housing cast to CNC-like tolerances in brass, then pre-assembled by hand.
Complex Enamel Process: Multi-layer “wet-fill” enameling requiring repeated high-temperature firings.
Limited Run: Single unit; production and assembly involved over 150 hours of artisan labor.
Philanthropic Commitment: A portion of proceeds supports Taiwan’s enamel art community.
This exceptional timepiece embodies the union of Dante’s epic vision, Taiwanese enamel mastery, and micro-sculptural innovation—truly a once-in-a-lifetime collectible.
